Construction Debris Removal in Chicago, IL
606 Junk hauls construction debris from Chicago homes and job sites. Drywall, lumber, tile, flooring, fixtures, and renovation waste cleared fast. One call, one visit, cleared.
Renovation Done. Debris Still There.
The contractor finished yesterday. The kitchen looks great. But the old cabinets are stacked in the hallway, there is a pile of tile on the back porch, and the dumpster the contractor brought was full two days before the job was done.
Construction debris removal is what happens after the renovation is done. The build-out crew is gone. The mess is yours to deal with.
We load everything into the truck and route it to the right facility. One call, one visit, cleared.
Call (773) 412-4902What We Remove
We handle all standard residential and light commercial construction debris.
Demolition & Structural Material
Drywall and plaster (including old lath and plaster from pre-war Chicago buildings), lumber, framing, trim, baseboards, door and window casings, subfloor sections and underlayment.
Concrete blocks, bricks, and masonry from small interior projects. Old insulation (fiberglass batt and blown-in, not asbestos). Doors, windows, and frames.
Flooring & Tile
Ceramic and porcelain tile (including mortar bed when present), hardwood and engineered flooring, laminate and luxury vinyl plank, carpet and pad, vinyl sheet and vinyl composition tile.
Kitchen & Bathroom Renovation Debris
Cabinets (upper and lower, including face frames and hardware), countertops (laminate, tile, solid surface), sinks, faucets, and plumbing fixtures.
Tubs, showers, shower enclosures, toilets, vanities, tile backer, cement board, and appliances removed during renovation (refrigerant recovery where applicable).
General Renovation Waste
Packaging material: cardboard, foam, plastic wrap, pallet material. Leftover building materials: partial rolls of flooring, partial sheets of drywall, unused lumber.
Old fixtures (light fixtures, ceiling fans, outlet covers), paint cans (empty or dried), old hardware, fasteners, and miscellaneous job site clutter.
What We Do Not Remove
A few materials require specialist handling that goes beyond standard debris removal. Not sure about a specific material? Call before booking.
Asbestos-Containing Materials
Common in pre-1978 Chicago homes in floor tile adhesive, drywall joint compound, pipe insulation, and ceiling texture. Any material confirmed or suspected to contain asbestos requires a licensed abatement contractor before removal. We do not handle asbestos.
Lead Paint Chips & Dust
Renovation work on pre-1978 surfaces generates lead paint debris. The EPA's Renovation, Repair, and Painting Rule (RRP Rule) governs how contractors handle this waste. We haul general debris from renovations but not material classified as lead paint waste requiring special handling.
Liquid Paint & Solvents
Chicago's Household Chemicals and Computer Recycling Facility at 1150 N. Branch St. accepts liquid paint, stains, and solvents at no cost to residents.
Hazardous Chemicals & Adhesives
Solvent-based adhesives, epoxies, and chemical strippers require hazardous waste disposal. These materials cannot go in our truck and must be routed through appropriate hazardous waste facilities.
Construction Debris in Chicago: What Makes It Different
Pre-War Building Materials
A significant portion of bungalows, two-flats, and greystones in neighborhoods like Pilsen, Bridgeport, Logan Square, and Beverly were constructed between 1900 and 1945. Renovation debris from these buildings is heavier and more labor-intensive than debris from modern construction.
Original plaster on lath walls is significantly heavier than modern drywall. A single room's worth of plaster debris can weigh two to three times the equivalent drywall volume. We factor this into crew sizing and pricing.
Original hardwood floors in older buildings are dense and heavy. Subfloor removal often involves multiple layers installed over decades. Brick and masonry from interior partition walls are common in older commercial-to-residential conversions.
High-Rise & Condo Renovation Debris
Condo renovations in Chicago high-rises in Streeterville, River North, and the Gold Coast generate construction debris that must leave the building through the service elevator.
Building management typically controls debris removal scheduling, may require protective covering on service elevator walls and floors, and may restrict debris removal to specific hours.
Provide building management contact information when booking. We coordinate access, elevator scheduling, and COI documentation as part of the job.
Stone Countertops & Heavy Materials
Granite, quartz, and marble countertop sections are among the heaviest items in residential renovation debris. A standard kitchen granite countertop can weigh 400 to 600 pounds.
Removing these safely requires additional crew members and sometimes mechanical assistance.
When you book, flag any stone countertop sections. We price these separately based on size and weight and bring appropriate crew. Do not attempt to move stone countertop sections without proper equipment.
Debris Removal vs. Dumpster Rental
Which is right for your project?
| Factor | Dumpster Rental | 606 Junk Debris Removal |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Large ongoing projects with debris accumulating over days | Single-day or post-project cleanups |
| Labor | You load everything yourself | Crew does all loading |
| Building access | Requires street or driveway placement | Works in any building including high-rises |
| Stone & heavy material | You load it at your own risk | Extra crew for heavy items |
| Scheduling | Multi-day rental window | Same-day or next-day |
| Asbestos & hazmat | Cannot go in dumpster | Cannot go in our truck either: abatement first |
| Cost | Flat rental rate plus weight overage | Volume-based, no rental period |
For a kitchen or bathroom renovation where debris accumulates over several days, a dumpster rental may be the right call. For a post-renovation cleanup where the contractor left everything behind, one 606 Junk visit handles it faster and without the street permit requirements that dumpsters often trigger in Chicago.
How It Works
Book with Debris Details
Call 773-412-4902 or schedule online. Describe materials, approximate volume, and location. For high-rises, provide building management contact. Flag stone countertops or heavy masonry upfront.
On-Site Quote
We assess material types and volume and give you a single upfront price. Pre-war plaster, stone countertops, and access constraints are factored in before any work begins.
We Load Everything
The crew carries all debris from the work area to the truck. You do not lift anything. For high-rise buildings we coordinate elevator access and floor protection.
Responsible Disposal
Recyclable materials including metal, clean lumber, and concrete go to recycling facilities. General construction waste goes to licensed disposal. Asbestos and hazmat are not accepted.
What Our Customers Say
"30 years of junk, gone in 3 hours! Dom came out on a Sunday to estimate a basement clear out on our 3 flat. Dom gave me a very reasonable estimate for what ended up being two completely full trailer loads of junk, which included a massive cast iron tub, an old Volvo car door, several steel cabinets and piles of other random stuff. Dom and his crew are very professional and very efficient. I highly recommend 606 Junk removal."
"They were great. Last minute request same day with quote. Very professional and very responsive. I had some extras that they were able to take care of for me as well. Will recommend them to anyone who wants a trustworthy company that works fast. They know what they're doing."
"Wonderful experience. Quick scheduling, fast and efficient payment system, and professional service. The owner, Dom, is a great community driven kind of guy and great to work with. Highly recommend."
